Old Town
Kostrzyńskie Pompeii

History of Kostrzyn Old Town is fascinating. The Old Town with its castle, town hall, parish church and market place had charm. The war caused that the city stopped for nearly 50 years. Not so long ago the place of the former Old Town could only arouse a longing for that which has ceased to exist. Today, under the heaps of earth they emerged from the ruins of old houses, paving streets and sidewalks, and some objects fortress was restored. Walk through the Old Town is a sentimental journey to the days when Kostrzyn was one of the most beautiful cities in Brandenburg. Old Kostrzyn can of course be visited by yourself but please remember that "the stones say" only figuratively and never tell what they can give and show our qualified guides. We also encourage you to virtual stroll through the Old Town (as of 2010) and look at the pictures presented below. The Old Town is available daily from dawn to dusk. The rules are regulated by exploring the Old City.

Bastion Philip


One of the three surviving bastions of the fortress of Kostrzyn and the only one open to the public. Since 2014 the Bastion Philip presents a permanent museum exhibition. It presents selected aspects of the history of the city and garrison from the beginning of the fortress and the war struggles taking place in the area over the centuries. They were presented in detail to fight for the city in February and March 1945, and the history of the bastion. Synthetically and clearly it has shown gradual process of development and modernization of the fortress. Much space is devoted to the disaster Seven Years' War and the destruction of the city on the eve of the battle of Sarbinowo 25 August 1758 year. A separate section is also devoted to the history of Kostrzyn Castle, ukazanego as ancestral Hohenzollern slot. The exhibition is interactive, the disposal of visitors were commissioned original exhibits and findings, as well as audio-visual equipment (films, drama), models, models, replicas of weapons etc. Bastion Philip is open from Tuesday to Friday. 11:00 - 14:00 (last entrance h. 13:15), and on Saturdays and Sundays in hours. 10:00 - 18:00 (last entrance h. 17:00). Warning! Due to the low temperature in Bastion Philip it is necessary to have the top-cover regardless of the season and temperatures prevailing outside.

Berlin Gate

One of the three gates to the city which is part of fortifications Kostrzyn. The rooms, which are available free of charge to visitors, you can see the selected monuments found in the Old Town of Kostrzyn and the surrounding area. The most interesting objects are the sarcophagus lid Catherine of Brunswick (reconstruction from 1882), ekshumacyjny sarcophagus dating from 1713, relics from the Bronze Age (jewelry, clothes pins, urns). The Gate Berlin also has a tour desk, souvenir sales and publishing positions. Gate Berlin is open from Tuesday to Friday. 09:00 - 16:00 and on Saturdays and Sundays in hours. 10:00 - 18:00.
