The oldest village of the “New America” was founded in 1722 (45 years before the great melioration works!), on the grounds of the Krzeszyce Monastery Riversides, swamplands in the Warta delta that belonged to the Słońsk Order of Saint John. The first settlers were forty Mennonites. Even today, Studzionka, due to its characteristic location among swamps, may provide us with some understanding of the hardships of life in the swamplands. For example, buildings had to be erected on elevated spots, as were roads or cemeteries. The belltower of the church in Studzionka contains a bell funded in 1793 by the bailiff of the Order of Saint John, Duke Ferdinand.
